Victory Over the Enemy- Weapon of the “Word”

Regardless of what branch of the military you may serve in, you’re job is not easy. However, I have good news this morning. You can have victory over the enemy! When you go to war, the enemy is sneaky and will try to attack when you least expect it. Today, I want to let you know that if you’re saved and covered by the blood of Jesus, you’re not just a soldier in the greatest army in the world, but you’re a soldier in God’s army!

Well, I want to tell you today that we as Christian soldiers, we are fighting a battle every day against our enemy Satan. He’s sneaky, he’s a liar, he’s a thief, he’s no good, and he’s out trying to catch you off guard so he can attack you! We must be wise to his schemes, and ready to use our weapons of attack or be defeated. Yes, he will take over your camp and it won’t be peaches n cream, I promise!

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to give you 5 spiritual weapons of attack that you can use to overcome the enemy when he strikes. If you learn these weapons, the devil can’t touch you. However, I offer to you a word of warning! If you haven’t been enlisted in the army of God as a Christian soldier, then the enemy is quickly approaching and he’s going to attack whether you like it or not. You must make sure that you’ve made Jesus Christ your commanding officer, submitting yourself to Him with unquestioning obedience.

Ask yourself, am I a soldier in God’s army? Am I a Christian soldier? I’ll go ahead and tell you, if you’re not or if you don’t know, then today is your day to decide who you will serve. God or the enemy? “No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” (2 Timothy 2:4 NKJV). “Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, for which I suffer trouble as an evil doer, even to the point of chains; but the Word of God is not chained. Therefore, I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the Salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. (2 Timothy 2:7-10).

The scripture reveals to us that the Apostle Paul was writing to Timothy telling him to be strong in the faith. Teach others what I’m writing in my letters. Endure hardships as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. You will be persecuted, but endure it, even to the point of chains.

The Bible says the devil is like a roaring lion walking around seeking whom he may devour. The devil is our enemy and he wants to destroy each and every one of us. We must become aware of the fact that he is around. He is the enemy that we must overcome!

The first weapon of attack against Satan I want to give you t is the weapon of the “Word.” When Jesus was tempted by Satan in the desert for forty days, Jesus quoted scripture to Satan. When Jesus referred to the Word and told Satan to get away, he had to leave. Satan had no other choice because the power is in the Word! The Bible says that the Word is alive and active. It’s as sharp as a double-edged sword.

Jesus gave His soldiers(Christians) the authority to use the weapon of the “Word” against the enemy. As a soldier in God’s army, when we use the “Word” against Satan, it consumes him and he is crippled. He can’t even hardly stand so he flees. For example, when the devil reminds you of your past, remind him of his future by quoting scripture from the book of Revelation. A lake of fire will be his eternal home!Weapon of the "Word"
